REPURPOSE CEREAL BOXES INTO STORAGE BINS /ORGANIZERS

REPURPOSE CEREAL BOXES INTO STORAGE BINS/ ORGANIZER

I decided to make few storage bins/organizers to keep my work station clutter-free. I used empty cardboard cereal boxes for this.

REQUIREMENTS:

Empty cereal box
Utility Knife
Construction paper
Elmer's Multipurpose glue
Pair of scissors.
Cello tape/Packing tape
Ruler

METHOD:

1. I took an empty cereal box and marked 7 inches on it for the depth of my organizer.

2. I then folded the sides inside, so that they become more sturdier for holding them.

3. Mark 1 inch handles (1.5 inches below the top edge) and cut them using an Utility Knife.

4. Tape the sides inside and the bottom to seal the joints using broad cello tape or packing tape. Later using your favorite color construction paper, cover the outer part of the cereal box using glue.

5.The final results are.....

Now my work station looks good. I made four of these. No more messy. It looks a little organized now. They look plain and simple. One can decorate these using dots of contrasting color or stripes or paint something on them or using little paper punch craft on it. Let your imagination run wild and then see the results!

HANDPAINTED GIRLS T-SHIRT

HANDPAINTED GIRLS T-SHIRT WITH CUTE GIRAFFE.

Yesterday I was working on this project. My daughter has selected 'Giraffe' as her project for Kindergarten this year. I thought of a good idea of designing her T-shirt to go along with her project. She is a girl who loves pink and butterflies, flowers, princess etc. etc. So I knew she would definitely love this one. I first went and purchased a plain yellow T-shirt of her size. Then I made a rough sketch of the design and painted the same on it using fabric colors. In order to make it look more girlish, I added long eye-lashes, and little pink too. I added a butterfly and a flower for the tail using felt fabric. I added a tiny bow for the Giraffe too! It came out so well that my daughter is demanding a few more of different kinds.

My daughter and myself had made a mask last year together, using foam sheets. It went so well with it. Here is the image of the mask too!

I am planning to make a pair of hair clips or a headband to go with her T-shirt. So that is my next project. Keep waiting for more! Thanks for visiting my blog!

PENCIL VASE FOR TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK.

PENCIL VASE FOR TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK.

According to the teacher's wish list, she had needed some pencils for her classroom. I had brought some packs of #2 pencils for my kids classroom. If I wished I could have given them as they came home but I am a person who loves good presentation. So how could I?
 I made a pencil vase with empty soda bottle ( re-using them) and I used some construction sheets to make some flowers. I decorated the empty soda bottle with foam sheet. And on the tag I wrote;

Pencils are #2,

Because you are #1.

My daughter enjoyed helping me paste the flowers and their centers. She arranged the pencils in the vase.

RIBBON EMBROIDERY CORSAGE.

RIBBON EMBROIDERY CORSAGE.

This was my first attempt for ribbon embroidery. I wanted to try it since long. Finally I got an opportunity to do it today. I made this totally handmade gift for the Teacher Appreciation Week. This is made for my daughter's teacher. My daughter is extremely fond of pink and these pastel colors were in my mind since long.... I first did the embroidery on a plain pink fabric which I had purchased at Walmart.

I sandwiched some foam and a stabilizer to make it a little stiffer and joined the back and front using a sewing machine. I found a pretty pink button with a shimmer to go with it.

I packed it on a dark pink background. I hope her teacher loves it.

FOAM CRAFT PEN HOLDER

FOAM CRAFT PEN HOLDER.

Teacher appreciation week is going on..... So I decided to make some stuff for my kids each day. I got the idea to make this frog pen holder because my son's teacher uses froggies all over the classroom. I thought there wouldn't be any other great idea than this!

So all I did was first made a rough sketch on paper first then I traced it on the foam sheet and cut them out and hot glued them. That's all.....
I covered an empty can with foam sheet and to avoid any sharp edges I covered  the edge with a border too.

Lastly, I took a sharpie marker and made the dotted outlines and wrote a quotation using the word related to frog, 'HOPPY' instead of 'HAPPY' on purpose.

I hope the teacher likes her totally handmade gift which was specified on the flyer sent home last week.

UPCYCLING LAY'S STAX CHIPS CANS.

UPCYCYCLING LAY'S STAX CHIPS CANS.

Since long time I had been collecting some Lay's Stax Chips Cans. I had a lot of them sitting in my closet. I wanted to use them in some way or the other. I had a wooden shelving unit whose one pillar had broken as it was made out of plastic. It was lying in the store room and my hubby was about to throw it out of the house thinking it was just a waste now. I did not let him do that, as I had an idea in my mind! And to me, nothing is waste!

I then used these Lay's Stax Chips Cans as the pillars to support the shelves. All I needed to do this were 8 large sized bolts and 8 nuts. That's all.... I just heated an unwanted large bolt and pierced it into the can's lids and the bottom to make holes in them initially. I then put the bolts through them and the shelves and then just tightened them. One can cover these cans with glossy papers or shelf liners or modpodge their favorite scrapbook papers too. I left it as it is. Now, you can use it anywhere in the house.... Make it a book shelf, or a toy shelf with organizing bins, or a shoe-rack etc. It is multipurpose shelf!
