OWL REMOTE CADDY CUM CUSHION

OWL REMOTE CADDY CUM CUSHION

Many times it happens that we keep looking for the T.V. remote and cannot find it because it is either hidden under the couch or beside the recliner, or maybe the kids have put it somewhere. I have therefore made this caddy cum cushion to hold all my three remotes in them. It has a two large pockets and the wings can also hold them. Kids will love them as a cushion and it serves your purpose too. I used felt fabric to make it and used polyester fiberfill to stuff it. I appliqued the eyes and used large size buttons for the eyes and the wings. I used satin ribbon for the bow.                                             Owls are seriously so adorable!

Owl love you so much!

BINDER CASE / BINDER SLEEVE

BINDER CASE / BINDER SLEEVE

My son, who is a 5th grader now, is allowed to use binders this year. He has to carry them daily to school. It has sharp corners which may tear the bag at the bottom within some days. As we all know the famous saying ' A stitch in time saves nine', I thought of making a 'binder sleeve' or 'binder case/cover' to hold the binder and prevent the tearing of bag as well. I had so many ideas for a girl's binder but had to think for ideas and colors for a boy. So I chose black fabric, quilted it and made an appliqué of a bike on the center, attached a contrasting red colored zipper to add some brightness as well.

FALL WREATH (RECYCLING OLD CARDBOARD MUFFIN BOX)

FALL WREATH

Here is a fall season craft, which hardly costs anything!

All that you need is....
1. An empty muffin cardboard box.
2. A wire clothe hanger.
3. Glue gun and glue sticks.
4. Water colors and a brush.
5. Glitter pen.
6. A string or a piece of ribbon.

Method:
Step 1: Cut the muffin box, then cut out the shapes of fall leaves from them.

Step 2: Using water colors of the hues of red, yellow, brown and green, paint all the leaves using a brush. Let them dry.
Step 3: Add some veins using brown color and try to paint it quite natural.
Step 4: Actually the  wire hanger was very thin. So I took a sheet of large white paper and rolled it into a tube and tied it around the hanger using a string and painted it orange color using up the left over colors. I forgot to take pictures of this part. Later, I stuck the leaves onto it using hot glue.
Step 5: I took a brown colored construction sheet and cut a tag out of it. I jotted down 'WELCOME' on it using glitter pens and markers. I hung it using a paper string from the back on the hanger.
Step 6: It is a perfect door decor for the fall season and at almost no cost! It is easy to craft and fun too! You can make your little ones busy for the coloring part. They will surely enjoy helping you! Happy crafting!

CUTLERY CASE/ SCISSOR CASE

CUTLERY CASE/ SCISSOR CASE

I had this idea in my mind to design a scissor case for myself. After I made it, I got another idea to use it as a cutlery case on my dining table. I made one and I am heading to make three more to make a complete set of 4. It goes so well with my Corelle Dining Set which also has the same hues.
As a scissor case it looks like this as shown below....
Presentation counts! Isn't it?

GO GREEN! CAPRISUN JUICE POUCH BAG

RECYCLED BAG USING CAPRISUN JUICE POUCHES

Recycling the Caprisun Juice pouches was the part of  my project this time. I washed the juice pouches with soap and water, dried them completely before working on the project. I made a durable, sturdy, waterproof bag by piecing the pouches  together using a sewing machine. I used plastic handles for the bag which I already had at home. This bag can be used to carry beach wear (wet clothes, slippers) or can be used to carry a picnic blanket or any thing else. It can be used as a gift bag too! Show proudly that you are a fan of Caprisun 100% Juice!

GO GREEN!!!

HANDPAINTED GIRLS CUTE BALLERINA MONKEY T-SHIRT

HANDPAINTED GIRLS CUTE BALLERINA MONKEY T-SHIRT

Since last few days, I have been thinking of designing a cute T-shirt for my daughter. She loves ballet and ballerinas, keeping this in mind I first sketched a design on a rough paper and asked her if she loved it. She was extremely delighted to see it and wanted me to complete it as soon as possible. So I painted it quickly for her. She was so happy and wanted to wear it on the first day of her school.

REPURPOSE CEREAL BOXES INTO STORAGE BINS /ORGANIZERS

REPURPOSE CEREAL BOXES INTO STORAGE BINS/ ORGANIZER

I decided to make few storage bins/organizers to keep my work station clutter-free. I used empty cardboard cereal boxes for this.

REQUIREMENTS:

Empty cereal box
Utility Knife
Construction paper
Elmer's Multipurpose glue
Pair of scissors.
Cello tape/Packing tape
Ruler

METHOD:

1. I took an empty cereal box and marked 7 inches on it for the depth of my organizer.

2. I then folded the sides inside, so that they become more sturdier for holding them.

3. Mark 1 inch handles (1.5 inches below the top edge) and cut them using an Utility Knife.

4. Tape the sides inside and the bottom to seal the joints using broad cello tape or packing tape. Later using your favorite color construction paper, cover the outer part of the cereal box using glue.

5.The final results are.....

Now my work station looks good. I made four of these. No more messy. It looks a little organized now. They look plain and simple. One can decorate these using dots of contrasting color or stripes or paint something on them or using little paper punch craft on it. Let your imagination run wild and then see the results!

HANDPAINTED GIRLS T-SHIRT

HANDPAINTED GIRLS T-SHIRT WITH CUTE GIRAFFE.

Yesterday I was working on this project. My daughter has selected 'Giraffe' as her project for Kindergarten this year. I thought of a good idea of designing her T-shirt to go along with her project. She is a girl who loves pink and butterflies, flowers, princess etc. etc. So I knew she would definitely love this one. I first went and purchased a plain yellow T-shirt of her size. Then I made a rough sketch of the design and painted the same on it using fabric colors. In order to make it look more girlish, I added long eye-lashes, and little pink too. I added a butterfly and a flower for the tail using felt fabric. I added a tiny bow for the Giraffe too! It came out so well that my daughter is demanding a few more of different kinds.

My daughter and myself had made a mask last year together, using foam sheets. It went so well with it. Here is the image of the mask too!

I am planning to make a pair of hair clips or a headband to go with her T-shirt. So that is my next project. Keep waiting for more! Thanks for visiting my blog!

PENCIL VASE FOR TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK.

PENCIL VASE FOR TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK.

According to the teacher's wish list, she had needed some pencils for her classroom. I had brought some packs of #2 pencils for my kids classroom. If I wished I could have given them as they came home but I am a person who loves good presentation. So how could I?
 I made a pencil vase with empty soda bottle ( re-using them) and I used some construction sheets to make some flowers. I decorated the empty soda bottle with foam sheet. And on the tag I wrote;

Pencils are #2,

Because you are #1.

My daughter enjoyed helping me paste the flowers and their centers. She arranged the pencils in the vase.
